In 1996, Jonathan Hill wrote the first version of what became GroupMail. Thirty years later we’re still an independent company, based in Strandhill, Co. Sligo, on the west coast of Ireland.
Since then, more than 100,000 people and organisations in over 160 countries have bought Groupmail, from one-person businesses to universities and unions.
The idea hasn’t changed much. You buy the software once and it’s yours. It runs on your own computer, so your mailing list stays with you. You send through your own email account, so you’re never tied to ours.
Most email marketing has gone the other way: monthly fees that rise as your list grows, and your contacts kept on someone else’s servers. That suits some people. Groupmail is for people who would rather own their tools.
Groupmail 7 is the biggest update we’ve made. It’s a completely new app for Mac and Windows, and it brings your lists across from GroupMail 6.
